Fishing Report March 28th, 2020
Calm waters and light wind making it a pleasure to run 25 to 45 miles off shore Sheeps head bite holding stong on fish haven (25 mile out of crystal river) lighter rods feeling the bite on live shrimp .
Cobia showing up in big schools live crab and giant shrimp at surface are working the best. Artificial eels are also producing.
At 45 miles in 50 feet of water producing bigger hogfish and mangrove snapper , lots of trigger fish action mixed in.
Short gags and red grouper jumping on the shrimp .
Live pin fish producing the keeper red groupers .
Spanish mackerel invasion both inshore and offshore wacking our baits while we’re targeting sheepshead. They’re a blast on light tackle if you can land them without getting cut off.
Targeting them go with fast moving baits. Anything Flashy works .
Inshore
Redfish action has been steady lately around the back bay and upper bay waters around the mangrove shorelines, oyster bars, residential docks and canals too.
Best action is happening around the outer islands and oyster bars we’ve been finding plenty of redfish at high tide
They love the smaller pinfish, shrimp.
Sea “gator” trout. These beautiful fish with colorful spots, egg yellow inner mouth and teeth like vampires mainly caught on live shrimp from shore line to 8 feet of water .
